In this ProAgency web-based software, we use cookies* to store information about your browser version, Internet IP address and Operating System. These are used to manage your login id (that is a unique id assigned to you current login which tells us that you are logged on or off and if you login should be expired due to idle time). A cookie is also used if you tick the “Remember me” box on the login screen. This remembers your user name only. Your password is never saved in the cookie and will have to be entered every time you log in.
Cookies are NOT used in the emails that are sent from ProAgency to your database contacts.
The only exception to this rule is if you have implemented web page tracking functionality in the ProAgency software. In that case you need to be aware of the need to ask people to opt-in to accept the use of cookies as laid out in the May 2011 revisions to the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. If you use web page tracking functionality you must have an opt-in policy implemented by May 2012.
By providing this information, Intellegentia is not putting itself forward as a legal expert, and we recommend that you obtain appropriate legal guidance for subjects that impact your use of email marketing, including but not limited to The Data Protection Act and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
*A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
